SCIENCE: No Science this week. Next week will be Force and Motion

FOURTH NINE WEEKS EXPECTATIONS:
We had a discussion with all of our students yesterday about fourth nine weeks expectations. In order to make sure they are ready for middle school, we are expecting students to follow all directions. Some of the biggest items we are seeing that students need to work on are:
1. Deadlines for work/assignments will not be extended
2. Using time wisely
 3. Following directions WITHOUT arguing or whining
 4. Being responsible for their own actions
We have informed them that we will be getting very strict about these expectations. We want every child to be successful in middle school and beyond and these are some of the things we feel are significant. Thank you so much for your support with this matter.

CHROMEBOOKS STAYING AT SCHOOL
We will be keeping chromebooks at school for the remainder of the school year. Students will not have any homework that requires their computers. They will be plugging them in our chromebook carts at the end of each day so that they are fully charged and ready to go the next day.

March 18 Weekly Pineapple

MATH: Students tested on Dividing Fractions and we began our Measurement unit. This is where we explore converting units in the customary and metric systems. This can be frustrating and difficult for students so any reinforcement at home would be wonderful.

ELA:  In ELA this week,  we continued reading our class novel, "The Watsons Go To Birmingham."  We analyzed how a character's traits can change based on the setting of a story and we also utilized context clues to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words.

SOCIAL STUDIES: No Social Studies this week. Next week we will start the end of World War Two.

SCIENCE: We learned about chemical and physical changes in our lives. Students made a project in class using items they see in their home as chemical/physical changes. We had an EdPuzzle on this topic as well for a daily grade.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Remind your child to charge their computers EVERY NIGHT. We are having so many students bring dead computers into class and not having a charger with them. This is causing a significant delay in their ability to get work completed.

BENCHMARK TESTING:
Our 3rd nine weeks benchmark tests will be on Tuesday, March 29th and Wednesday, March 30th. These ELA and Math assessments test students on the material taught for the third nine weeks so we can get an idea of where they are. Teachers will use this data to inform our instruction for the remainder of the school year.
